NATURES COMPOSITES INTRODUCES SUSTAINABLE FENCE OPTIONS WITH SERIOUS HORSE SENSE
A whole new category of composite fencing promises greener pastures, paddocks and corrals
for horse owners, ranchers and farmers

TORRINGTON, Wyo. - For years, horse owners have been penned in when looking for easy to install, safe, low maintenance and affordable fence options.

Now, Natures Composites out of Torrington, Wyo., is offering an alternative to wood and vinyl fences with a brand-new option that not only combines these benefits, but also is highly sustainable. Sold under the product names “TerraFence” and “Terra Deck,” this solid composite material is comprised of 94 percent rapidly renewable and reclaimed materials, including cellulose from wheat straw and recycled plastic.

The result is a strong, safe and eco-friendly fence option that is long-lasting, and virtually maintenance free, offering a 20-year warranty. With a Bio-Preferred rating from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA), TerraFence and TerraDeck are free of toxins and available in three rail ranch styles, as well as posts.

For horse farms, ranchers and farmers  who often need to install acres, if not miles, of fencing, straight-forward installation is a major benefit. TerraFence ranch rail lock system secures the rail to the pre-routed post without popping out. No splintering or sharp edges mean safer containment, reducing the possibility of fencing-related puncture wounds.  The product is so innovative that it was recently featured on Tom Seay’s popular “Best of America on Horseback” television program airing on RFD-TV.

Great style is another key advantage. Offered in six colors including hard-to-find black, TerraFence delivers the natural look of wood, retains color better and resists problems such as moisture, insect damage and sunlight. Rather than a shiny, synthetic finish, TerraFence offers an authentic and natural appearance that never needs to be stained, sealed or painted. Other fencing styles are available as well and the company also manufacturers tongue and grove composite lumber that is well-suited for stalls.

How it’s made
The strength of Natures Composites’ environmental story lies in the unique utilization of highly renewable, locally sourced materials. Wheat straw, which has long been considered a byproduct of the agriculture industry, is put to productive use instead of wasted. Rather than wood which contributes to deforestation and takes at minimum 10 plus years before it can be harvested, wheat is rapidly renewable, grown and harvested annually, and readily available from farmers nearby the Natures Composites manufacturing plant.

Natures Composites’ wheat straw biomass processing system has more than 15 years of research, testing and development behind it. With a cellulose structure similar yet superior to wood, wheat straw provides a strong, stable fiber ideal for achieving maximum density and consistent performance.  Wheat straw is pulverized and mixed with melted post-consumer HDPE plastic (#2) that is then processed and extruded into a variety of lumber material, shapes and sizes.  This combination of strong wheat fiber and recycled plastics ensures it won’t splinter or crack, and offers protection from the harshest elements.

Natures Composites distributes products through retail and wholesale channels in North America and Europe.  For more information, including complete installation guidelines and product care, visit www.naturescomposites.com.
